Morata The Match Against Liverpool Could Have Easily Been A Champions League Semi Final Or Final Footboom

Morata: "The match against Liverpool could have easily been a Champions League semi-final or final" - FootBoom

Alvaro Morata was full of praise for Liverpool after Chelsea's 2-0 defeat at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The forward, who started the game up front for the Blues, said that the Reds were the better team on the night and deserved to win.

“Liverpool were the better team tonight,” Morata said. “They were more aggressive, they won more second balls, and they created more chances. We didn’t play well enough and we deserved to lose.”

“I think the match could have easily been a semi-final or final of the Champions League,” Morata added. “Both teams played at a very high level and it was a great spectacle for the fans.”

Morata’s comments come after Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri said that he was disappointed with his team’s performance against Liverpool.

“We didn’t play well enough tonight,” Sarri said. “We were too slow, we didn’t move the ball quickly enough, and we didn’t create enough chances.”

“I’m disappointed with the result, but I’m also disappointed with the performance,” Sarri added.

Chelsea will now face Liverpool again in the Carabao Cup final on February 24.
